[Image taken 13.8.23] Skeldergate, York. Context: #196556. I missed the diversion. Like all the cyclists coming in the other direction I pushed along the pavement. I can… not everyone can.

Two new pedestrian/cycleways under construction - and a barrier moved to allow passage over the bank holiday weekend rather than having to cross the main road twice.
Temporary lights - totally unnecessary, except I think that they allow a pedestrian phase around the roadworks. By the time the light changed there were 15 to 20 bikes (and 1 trike) waiting.

Alternating traffic flows through roadworks - very long phases, and no real provision for pedestrians and cyclists crossing the road - just wait till the cars stop and rush across. But it looks as if there'll be a better cycleway when it's … [more]

Following the attempt to use temporary lights (#189852 and #189853) they've given up - not ideal for the walk to school.
Local traffic chaos due to parked cars blocking cars trying to pass queuing cars. Also no lights on Chedworth St, one light for both Grantchester St and Eltisley Avenue.

Water utility works at the north end of Grange Road - naturally cyclists can get past (although the puddles don't help).
Water utility works at the north end of Grange Road - urgent enough to close the road, not urgent enough to work on a Sunday. A shame the barriers were left blocking the cycle lanes, but of course cyclists were passing on the footways.
Still no path connection from the Bredisholm Road M73 bridge to Calderbank Road, and no evidence one is going to be provided. A detour via the unsealed path next to the railway line is thus necessary.
I don't think the replacement Sighthill Bridge will be opening in "the early months of 2022". https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=27331
The Old Dumbarton Road cycleway still awaits completion of utility works before it can be completed itself.
