The chicanes here are to dissuade cyclists from the steep bank just after, and that is probably a good thing and anyway there is quite a good nearby alternative just a little further.
Two bikes are parked here, one against the lamppost and the other against the decapitated sewer vent and there's a double yellow line in between. What an excellent place for some cycle parking stands! See #95248.
These amazingly kitsch objects (with sound systems to match) are actually trishaws - probably for the Chinese honeymooner market.
What has motivated me to go out into the rain is just how rare it is to see the street so clear. Two factors are at play here: holiday time and planned repainting of the lines.
