Green End is a dead end. It SHOULD be a meeting of ways. 1. The Byway meets Horningsea Road at the point where the cycle track becomes far too narrow. 2. The footpath to Baits Bite Lock could connect to the towpath on the other side and so … [more]

See clip at http://youtu.be/gOeMarpER4A Low Fen Drove Way really feels like the back of beyond. A very quiet and remote spot. It's actually listed as a byway, open to motor vehicles, but I've never seen any. It's just about to get to a … [more]

See clip at http://youtu.be/bojFSyCZUck Yep, not 200 yards from the centre of town, a small muntjac decided to race me along the cyclepath. It heads to the path in front, then bombs along up the track to turn off just before the leet … [more]

See clip at http://youtu.be/BxyX2A68kEc There are some hazards that are a little more untoward in Cambridge. Cows is one! Slow down and don't make any loud noises, although this lot are very used to people walking and cycling near them.
See clip at http://youtu.be/_ct4-ohdgwk As the clip starts there's plenty of evidence of cows, splattered all over the shared path. Lovely! Then, as I roudn the corner, all the vegetation is back underneath the hedge, as this is one of … [more]
See clip at http://youtu.be/F4RkmrPGI5s Usually I cycle along the pavement here, as it's a shared path. However, a couple of pedestrians walking in the same direction as me, or a family meandering along, and I'd prefer the road, if it's … [more]

Advisory 'Cyclist Dismount' signs imposed by the county council's lawyers - if cyclists really did dismount it would grind to a halt in the rush hour, but weekend dog-walkers don't see it this way.

Good practice, except that it's also a shared-use cycle path - but there is level access at each end. (These barriers had been waiting for repair since the summer of 2009 - see #19037 )
