Bicycle parked in historical machinery at Karlsruhe Institut für Technology (Technical University of Karlsruhe), Karl Benz Alma Mater. Karlsruhe was also home to Karl Drais, inventor of the Draisine, also called Laufmaschine ("running machine") around 1820, which looked like a modern bicycle without chain or pedals.
