Really do not understand the reaction here, short of wanting to complain.
I approach along SHARED path on the (traditional) left side. They stare at me, clearly indicating they had seen me, but standing blocking the path. I slow down. They don't move and continue to stare. I slow further and pull off the path. They still haven't moved an inch over several seconds. As they are looking at me I don't go raring off into the deep undergrowth next to the path but continue in the cut stuff.
Afterwards I hear gasps of irritation and "who'd have thought it". I raised my hand in a "what did you want me to do?" gesture. Get off and push my bike past you? It's a SHARED path, stop being quite so rude and learn to share. I didn't surprise you. I didn't endanger you. You managed to pull off all your indignation all by yourselves, simply because you seemed to want to prove a point. Well, the point you proved is that complaints from pedestrians about terrible cyclists can be taken with a pinch of salt.
