Dropped kerb provides access to cycleway (now also the Guided Busway maintenance track). Although more posts would be required to prevent unauthorised access, putting the bollards here would have reduced the impact on cyclists and meant that the cycle way would be less easy to obstruct by unauthorised vehicles. Sea also #19447
