[UPDATE 8.2.23: #190890] [UPDATE: On Tuesday, 19 July 2022 at the Meeting of Decision Session Cllr D'Agorne - Executive Member for Transport considered measures intended to make cycling on centre centre bridges - Lendal, Ouse, Skeldergate
- safer for cyclists. The original document 'Active Travel Programme – City Centre Bridges
Revision 3.0 – 28/6/2022' is here: democracy.york.gov.uk/documents/s160766/Annex%2011%20-%20Feasibility%20Report%20-%20City%20Centre%20Bridges%20v3.0a.pdf
Cllr D'Agorne "v. Confirmed that the proposals presented for the City Centre Bridges scheme align with the approved Project Outline, and decide to proceed with consultation, detailed design and implementation.
Reason: To support progress towards implementation of a solution."

[Image taken 26.3.21] Family from Dringhouses on The Stonebow, York. They are using a FollowMe (www.followmetandem.co.uk/). (See hitch on parked cycle: #184974.) I stopped to ask about their experiences of cycling on York's bridges. They push their cycles over because drivers - including bus drivers - pass too closely. I believe York should trial 'Do not overtake cyclists' signs on its bridges this summer. See 'Give cyclists space' sign in use in Edinburgh: #185883. Other image today: #164310.
