[Image taken 19.3.21] View from Lendal Bridge (Station Road) towards the War Memorial on the Lendal gyratory, York. It's a noticeable incline. Particularly if you start from a stationary position at these lights. There are bus stops on the left, traffic merging from the right, and additional hazards just before the city walls (visible ahead of the bus). At that point one branch of the carriageway turns left while the remainder diverges but with no safe place for people on cycles to position themselves.
