[Image taken 20.3.21] Tanner Row, York. The cyclist could not manoeuvre his bike out of the racks backwards as the Tier scooter bays are too close unless you lift your cycle and turn it in stages. However, exiting forwards onto Tanner Row you have: drivers coming from the left (who may not have seen the advisory cycle lane see: #165815) and who may be avoiding vans parked as in this image and move into the advisory cycle lane. You also have cyclists using the contraflow cycle lane from Rougier Street. Solutions: I believe the police parking space (see: #164847) should be removed to deter other drivers from using the area. I believe wands should be inserted for the full length of the contraflow cycle lane to protect users. I’d like to see a drop kerb for the extent of the Sheffields to enable people to wheel in/wheel out/minimise lifting. The Tier scooter bay closest to the Sheffields needs to be relocated. See also: #165819. Tanner Row is part of the proposed route for diversions when the floodgates under Lendal bridge are replaced. For all issues see links in: #166177
