Journey Planner - plan a cycle journey to
Altrincham Hospital. Do the NHS really believe they are encouraging active travel ? UPDATE 19/6/19 No evidence of a signage survey and not only that a patient at Altrincham Hospital was denied access to the cycle parking facility in the basement. UPDATE 16/1/19 There is to be a signage survey UPDATE There is, however, a facility in the basement, down the ramp, in the farthest corner, for cycle parking sufficient for about 10 cycles available to both staff and visitors with direct access into the hospital (stairs & lift, through security door). but there is NO SIGNAGE TO INDICATE !!!! The entrance has a large planter outside which is the perfect place for cycle parking as the pavement is wide. The planter is looked after by Friends of John Leigh Park. A bar could be attached to the planter on 2 sides to allow parking similar to St Ann's church MCR. #102025 . When attended the hospital the comment was that there is cycle parking but it's on the other side of the road requiring 2 busy roads to cross. Most cyclists will choose to park secured to the barrier. Would be much better in a location that is near to the entrance as recommended in all guidance . Signs saying cyclist welcome would be a good idea . Also walking and cycling promtion such as signs for the Bee Network - Walking and cycling local network planning (formerly known as GM Beelines Proposals) the new Bee Network branding all over
